
Bhubaneswar: Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament, Digvijaya Singh, visited the World Skill Center in Bhubaneswar on Thursday as part of his Odisha tour. Impressed by the state-of-the-art infrastructure and its role in empowering youth through skill-based education, Shri Singh commended the World Skill Center for its vision and commitment to workforce development.
During his visit, Shri Singh toured various advanced training facilities at WSC, including laboratories dedicated to Vertical Transportation, Mechanical & Electrical Services, Mechatronics, and the Centre of Excellence in Advanced Welding. He also visited the Learning Resource Centre and interacted with students undergoing industry-aligned training programs.
Expressing his appreciation, Shri Digvijaya Singh stated, “The World Skill Center is a model institution that reflects the future of vocational training in India. While other states may have established skill centers, WSC’s achievement of completing six successful batches with a 99% placement rate is truly commendable. This institute is not just skilling the youth but also up-skilling the trainers, setting new benchmarks in quality and execution.”
He further lauded the World Skill Center for such a world-class facility, emphasizing the center’s strategic importance in meeting the industry’s evolving needs and creating a job-ready workforce.
The visit was marked by the presence of key officials including Shri Bhupendra Singh Poonia, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of Skill Development & Technical Education, and Shri Pinaki Patnaik, Additional Secretary of Skill Development & Technical Education cum Chief Operating Officer, World Skill Center. They welcomed Shri Singh and guided him through the various departments and initiatives that make the WSC a national leader in vocational education.
Also present at the occasion were Principal T. Thambyrajah, Deputy Principal Jeetamitra Satpathy, Chief Technical Officer Dhananjay Sarangi, and Chief Finance Officer Bibhu Behura, among other senior management of World Skill Center.
The World Skill Center, established under the Odisha Skill Development Authority, continues to stand as a beacon of high-quality technical education and career advancement for the youth of Odisha and beyond.
