Bhubaneswar: An orientation workshop has been organised for Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) teachers appointed in Government Higher Secondary Schools and Government Upgraded Higher Secondary Schools under the Directorate of Higher Secondary Education, School and Mass Education Department.
The programme is being conducted at IMAGE, Siripur, with the participation of around 240 PGT teachers. In the inaugural session, the Regional Director of Higher Secondary Education, Berhampur, Ramesh Chandra Sethy, Smt. Binita Senapati, JD, DHSE, Lalita Pattnaik, State Education Specialist, UNICE, Snigdha Mishra, JD, DHSE and Sasmita Mali, JD, DHSE, Smt. C.H. Bijayalakshmi, DD and Jitendra Kumar Nayak, DD were present, among others.
On the occasion, Regional Director Shri Sethy advised PGT teachers to focus on finding solutions. He said that the responsibility of shaping good citizens for society and the nation rests on teachers, and it is their duty to provide proper guidance to students. He also emphasised identifying and addressing the gaps that exist between teachers and students.
Joint Director Smt. Senapati, while addressing the participants, advised PGT teachers to continue the process of acquiring knowledge at all times. She stressed that to impart education effectively, teachers themselves must remain lifelong learners. State Education Specialist Smt. Pattnaik said that the learnings gained by teachers through induction workshops help in making students more competent. She elaborated on adolescence, describing it as the second phase of development in students’ lives, during which proper guidance is essential. Creating a positive mindset among students, she said, is a key responsibility of teachers. She urged teachers to understand students and contribute to shaping their future.
On the occasion, Joint Director Smt. Mali delivered the welcome address, while Deputy Director Shri Nayak proposed the vote of thanks. The induction workshop for PGT teachers is being organised in two phases. The first phase is being held from February 3 to February 7, while the second phase will be conducted from February 9 to February 13. A total of 240 teachers from various disciplines will participate in both phases. In the first phase, PGT teachers from Psychology, Zoology, Botany, Urdu, and Anthropology streams are taking part.
