
Bhubaneswar: State Health Machinery is on war footing operation for management of the diarrhoeal outbreak in some parts of the district. Different teams are at action in affected and surrounding areas of Dharmashala, Vyasanagar municipality, Danagadi, Rasulpur and Korei block. The State and District Teamsin convergence are monitoring the ground situation closely. Field level actions have been intensified under the supervision s of Secretary, Smt. Aswathy S.
Director, Public Health Services Dr. Nilakantha Mishra said that all patients and sporadic cases in adjoining places are being quicklyattended to by rapid action teams constituted at district level. Besides, Director Public Health along with twoRapid Action Teams consisting of medical officers, microbiologists, epidemiologists, Joint Director integrated disease surveillance programme from state level have reached the area; and, have started field operation in coordination with Chief District Medical and Pubic Health Officer, Jajapur.
Specialists from Maharaja Jajati Keshari Medical College and hospital are looking into treatment of the critical cases. Six medicine specialists from SCB, Medical college and hospital have also been deputed to the district. The infected people have been admitted inDharmashala, Jajpur Road, and Danagadi Community Health Centres(CHCs) andDistrict Head quarter hospital Jajpur. Thecritical patients are also being treated at SCB Medical College and hospital, Cuttack. The hospitals in the districts have been equipped with additional manpower, sufficient medicines, saline fluids, injections etc to combat the disease. Superintendent SCB Medical College has been asked to remain alert about proper treatmentof the referral cases.
The RWSS teams are working for disinfection of the drinking water sources. Food inspecting teams and disease surveillance teams are working at the ground level to combat out the waterborne disease. The grassroot level service providers like health sub-centres, ASHA karmies, AWC karmies and multi-purpose health workers have been supplied with halogen tablets, medicines, ORS packets and awareness materials for distribution among the people. Mass awareness activities are being undertaken with mike announcements by district administration.
The people have been advised to take all precautionary measures, not take outside foods, take safe water, and adhere to hygienic practices. The situation is under close monitoring.
