Bhubaneswar: An Inter-ministerial committee meeting for the Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Project was held at Lok Seva Bhawan Conference Hall under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo. A sub-committee was formed under the direction of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. A panel of ministers are the members of it, including Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Empowerment and Energy Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo as the chairman of the Sub-committee.
The meeting discussed the key modalities for implementation, inter- departmental coordination, strong and efficient public transport system in Bhubaneswar city, comprehensive mobility plan for traffic decongestion, rail-road transition. The next steps will be taken on the Metro project keeping in mind the interest of the people and traffic decongestion. In this regard, discussions have been held with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation CEO Kalyan Patnaik, Vikas Kumar, Pramit Garg.
Law, Works and Excise Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan, Industry and Skill Development and Technical Education Minister Sampada Chandra Swain attended the meeting and presented their views. Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Principal Secretary, Finance, Saswat Mishra, Housing and Urban Development, Usha Padhee, BMC Commissioner Rajesh Pravakar Patil presented their views.
