Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Excise Department continued its rigorous enforcement drive on 7th September 2025, registering a total of 168 cases across the State, including 3 cases under the NDPS Act. During the day’s operations, 30 persons were arrested while 65 were released under the provisions of Section 35 of BNSS.
The enforcement squads seized 11,399 litres of ID liquor along with 112,360 litres of fermented wash and 8,460 litres of gur wash, indicating large-scale destruction of illicit brewing materials. In addition, 203 litres of Out Still liquor, 50 litres of C.S. liquor and 46 bulk litres of beer were seized. Contraband substances recovered included 21 kilograms of Ganja, 385 grams of heroin (brown sugar).
Enforcement teams also seized 15 vehicles that were being used for transportation of illicit liquor and contraband. The total value of the seized articles on the day stood at ₹1.31 crore. With this, the cumulative value of seizures from 1st September till date has reached ₹7.91 crore.
The Department reaffirmed its commitment to curbing the illicit liquor trade and narcotics activities through sustained and coordinated enforcement measures across all districts of Odisha.
