Bhubaneswar: The Enforcement Special Drive entered its sixteenth day with fresh seizures across the State amounting to ₹1.53 crore. Excise officials said 219 cases were detected on Tuesday, leading to the arrest of 132 persons. During the operation, 8,289 bulk litres of illicitly distilled liquor and 442 bulk litres of duty-paid liquor were confiscated, while nearly 94,380 litres of wash meant for distillation was destroyed. In addition, 1,226 kg of Mohua flowers were seized and nine vehicles impounded for their alleged involvement in unlawful trade.
Ten cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act were also registered. Enforcement squads recovered 14 kg of ganja and 786 grams of heroin in separate raids. Balasore district recorded one of the most significant breakthroughs under the drive. The Excise team booked three NDPS cases, seizing 455 grams of brown sugar and arresting three persons in connection with the offence.
