
Bhubaneswar/ Rourkela: After an exhilarating final at Rourkela’s Birsa Munda Stadium, Bargarh FC emerged victorious over Bhubaneswar FC with a 3–2 scoreline, securing the inaugural CM Trophy Under‑15 Football Championship.
The tournament, the first grassroots-level U‑15 football championship in Odisha, is part of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi’s vision to cultivate sporting talent across the state. The tournament started on 16th January and the matches spanned from district level to zonals (divided into four zones- Sambalpur, Bhubaneswar, Keonjhar and Berhampur) culminating in the semis and finals.
Sports Minister Surjyabanshi Suraj joined as the Chief guest in today’s final match. He said, Under Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi’s leadership, this tournament has provided an excellent platform for showcasing grassroots talent. We will select and train the top 100 players from this championship to further hone their skills.
The future editions of CM Trophy Championship will extend to include other sports such as athletics, badminton, kho‑kho, kabaddi and hockey, Sports Minister Shri Suraj added.
Odisha Football Association President and Jharsuguda MLA Tankadhar Tripathy was also present at the ceremony. Reflecting on the broader significance of the tournament, he said, The CM Trophy nourishes grassroots talent and sows the seeds of teamwork and leadership in every young player.
