Bhubaneswar: Continuing its intensified crackdown against illicit trade, the Enforcement Special Drive has reported seizures amounting to ₹1.15 crore on its 17th day. According to official data, 150 cases were detected during the operations, leading to the arrest of 53 persons. Enforcement teams siezed 9,259 bulk litres (BL) of illicitly distilled liquor, 277 BL of duty-paid liquor, and destroyed 94,510 litres of wash. In addition, 14 vehicles allegedly used for trafficking were impounded.The drive also recorded a significant strike against narcotics smuggling. Authorities booked 11 cases under the NDPS Act, seizing 143 kilograms of ganja and 167 grams of heroin.
Officials said the sustained enforcement efforts reflect the department’s commitment to curbing illicit liquor and narcotics trafficking across the State. The special drive, which began earlier this month, has resulted in multiple high-value seizures and arrests, further tightening the noose around organised syndicates.
