Bhubaneswar: Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment, Energy Department Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo participated in the Virgin Land Security Summit held at India International Centre, New Delhi sponsored by Uday India. India has over 60 million hectares of barren or underutilized land and around 20 million of which are ideal for organic farming. With global demand for organic products soaring, this is a golden opportunity for our farmers to lead the world in sustainable agriculture.
Dy CM Shri Singh Deo said, Odisha is at the forefront of this movement. With the Balabhadra Jaivik Chasa Mission, we have begun transforming our pristine tribal regions into organic clusters. Nearly 32% of our cultivable land already sees minimal chemical use. Now, we are scaling up with One District – One Organic Cluster, Agro-processing units for mango, turmeric, millets, and ginger, Export-oriented agri parks, Organic value chains linked with SHGs and FPOs, Millet-based enterprises and eco-farming hubs.
Dy CM Shri Singh Deo also said that, Odisha is ready with land, strong policy, support such as land, power, water subsidies, capital incentives, and fast-track clearances to enable investors and innovators to thrive. And extended invitation to global partners and agripreneurs to come to Odisha a land where nature meets enterprise, and tradition meets innovation and be part of this transformation. Norway agripreneur praised Odisha’s eco-agriculture sector. The other attendees include Editor, Udaya India Deepak Kumar Rath, policymakers, agri-business leaders, farmer organizations, land reform exports, and development agencies.
