Bhubaneswar: Like every year, on 18th and 19th June 2025 Odisha conducted the Annual Table Top and Disaster Management Exercise across all 30 districts of Odisha. The basic objective of the exercise was to inculcate a culture of preparedness, test check imformation disseminiation, emergency response mechanisms and evacuation protocols and to identify gaps for future improvements.
On 18th June 2025 Table Top Exercise was conducted at the District Headquarter of all 30 districts and at all Block and Urban Local Body level involving Government officials of various departments, eleted representatives, disaster response forces, non-government organizations etc. Various scenarios involving Cyclone, Heavey Rainfall, Flood, Landslide, Snakebite, Lightnging, Drought and Tsunami discussed during the Exercise and roles and responsibilities and preparedness measures of various departments and organizations was discussed during the meeting.
On 19th June 2025 the Disaster Management Exercise was conducted at all the 909 Multipurpose Cyclone, Flood Shelters of Odisha. The Dummy Bulletins received from India Meteorological Department on Cyclone and associated heavy rainfall, flood and landslide and the dummy bulletins on Tsunami was communicted by the State Emergency Operation Centre to the concerned District Emergency Operating Centres for dissemination down the line and to trigger evacuation at the village level having Multipurpose Cyclone, Flood Shelters. At the Shelter level villagers, elected representatives, ASHA, Anganwadi Workers, Women Self Help Group Membes, Task Force Volunteers, Aapdamitras, memebers of Cyclone, Flood Shelters Management and Maintenance Committee, community based organizations etc. partcipated. Teams from Fire & Emergency Service, NDRF and ODRAF also participated in the exercise at different shelters. Officials of the Office of Special Relief Commissioner and Odisha State Disaster Management Authroity along with officials of IMD- Regional Centre, Bhubaneswar, Nodal Officers from different Departments of the Government of Odisha and Disaster Response Foreces coordinated all the activities of the Exercise on 18th and 19th June 2025.
