Bhubaneswar: With the direction of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi the State Government gets allocation of different kinds of fertilizers i.e Urea, DAP, SSP, MOP, Complex fertilizers from Govt of India in each month. As on today the fertiliser supply to the state is going on smoothly and we have availability of enough quantity of fertilizers in comparison to the allocation by end of May 2026. Further under the direction of Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo the government has kept sharp eye on availability and smooth distribution of fertiliser and to avoid any kind of hoarding, black marketing and misuse of fertilizers especially urea for non agricultural purposes. The Collector have been instructed to have a strong vigil to avoid use of agricultural grade urea in any industry like plywood, cattle feed, diesel exhaust fluid, resin industry etc.
The following steps have been taken by the Department to ensure effective and equitable distribution of fertilizers in the State:
Fertilizer Manufacturers are instructed to supply 60% of total fertilizers to MARKFED to ensure supply of fertilizers through PACS and LAMPCS.
PACS and LAMPCS having larger godowns are identified to function as fertilizer wholesalers.
Chief Secretary had taken meeting with representatives of different fertilizer companies supplying fertilizers to Odisha to ensure supply of fertilizers during current unrest in middle-east.
Department of Agriculture pressed upon the regular monitoring of spike in sale fertilizers like Urea and DAP in all districts during non cropping seasons and regular enforcement to check stocks and to avoid diversion of fertilizers for non agricultural use.
Formation of block and district level squads for rigorous enforcement for stock verification, prevent black marketing and hoarding of fertilizers.
Nigrani Samitis have been formed at all GPs, subdivision and district level to monitor misuse of fertilizers and promote balanced use of fertilizers. KVK scientists are also educating the farmers on balanced use of fertilizers in the GP level meetings.
All the Collectors and DM have been instructed to avoid misuse fertilizers in non-cropping area/non-growing period and have strong vigil on dealers if involved in any kind of irregularity.
Collectors and DM of all border districts have been instructed to keep close watch on illegal diversion of fertilizers to neighboring states.
Krushi Ratha programmme has been launched on the auspicious occasion of Akshay Tritiya to spread awareness among farmers regarding less consumption of chemical fertilizers and adoption of organic farming methods.
Review meeting of Collectors has been taken by the CM for smooth availability of fertilizers to the farmers.
Chief Minister has requested Union Minister of Fertilisers and Chemicals to ensure adequate supply to the state.
